Q1 Observation Deck is entering a new era, with exciting changes afoot for the iconic Gold Coast landmark.

On Tuesday night, at the launch of the Skylight Room on level 78, QDeck CEO Nigel Lane made a surprise announcement, introducing QDeck as the new name for the Q1 Observation Deck.

“We decided to change the name because it was too difficult for people to call directory services and ask for Q1 Observation Deck,” Mr Lane joked.

“Seriously though, this re-branding heralds a new direction for QDeck that will aim to not only enhance the global image of QDeck, but appeal to a more family-friendly market.”

Under new ownership by MFS Limited, the planned changes won’t just include rebranding, but also a number of new initiatives to be implemented over the next three months.

QEvents has been developed which, for the first time, will allow members of the public to hold unique events, banquets, wedding celebrations and conferences in the day and at night on top of the World’s Tallest Residential Tower in the Skylight Room on Level 78.

On QDeck itself, plasma screens will be erected showcasing iconic Gold Coast imagery.

SkyPhones and SkyMail have also been placed on Level 77, allowing visitors the opportunity to call and mail family and friends from the tallest point on the Gold Coast.

QDeck will increase its international appeal by offering multi-lingual facilities, as well as guided tours of the deck.

“These initiatives are all part of making QDeck more family-friendly and engaging the public,” said Mr Lane.

“We hope that in time, QDeck will be synonymous with the Gold Coast, much like the Eiffel Tower is with Paris and the Empire State Building with New York.”
